Description of the Albert Guy Farm Tobacco Barn #1 by Dennis Pogue:

Two early tobacco barns are located on the Albert Guy Farm in Clements, Maryland. Tobacco Barn #1 is likely to be the earlier of the two, consisting of an original gable-roofed core measuring 24’4” (N-S) by 36’1” (E-W). Sheds have been added to the north, east, and south walls, which are supported by earthfast posts; the east shed is open-sided. The barn is traditional timber-frame construction, with continuous sills originally resting on stone piers (surviving at the corners), framed by substantial corner posts and one pair of intermediate posts centered on each wall that also framed doorways: double doors on the north and south, single doorways on the east and west. Only the corner posts have down braces, facing in each direction.

Dendrochronological analysis has shown that the building was constructed from timbers felled in the summer of 1834.
